41 out of 55 McDonald's outlet at risk of shutting down in Delhi

New Delhi : 41 out of 55 McDonald's outlets were barred from operation in Delhi after Connaught Plaza Restaurants Pvt Ltd (CPRL) failed to get the licences renewed.

The company released an official statement saying, "The eating house licences of a number of McDonald’s restaurants in Delhi have expired." The company however assured that they are trying their best to get the licenses renewed as soon as possible.

"Pending this, CPRL is temporarily suspending the operations of the affected restaurants. McDonald’s is committed to ensuring that our restaurants are operating in full compliance with McDonald’s standards and applicable regulations. India continues to be an important market for McDonald’s and we are committed to working with CPRL to resolve the issue as soon as possible," the statement from McDonald’s India Pvt. Ltd added.

Good news remains that none of the McDonald employees will lose on their salaries till the time these stores are not operating. 

"As this is a temporary shutdown, all employees working in these restaurants shall be retained," said Bakshi, who is on the board of CPRL.

Few media reports claim that the closure of stores in Delhi comes as an after effect of legal battle between Bakshi and McDonald’s India, who had voted against the re-election of the former as the managing director of CPRL.
