Post PM Narendra Modi's warning, a cow trader lynching in Ranchi

New Delhi : Hours after Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced that 'killing in the name of cow is unacceptable', a Ranchi trader succumbed to his injuries after 10 men lynched his in Ranchi.

According to media reports, Ranchi trader was assaulted by at least 10 men who intercepted his van carrying “cattle meat” in Ramgarh district in Jharkhand.

Ranchi Police have identified the victim as Alimuddin Ansari, who belongs to the Giddi area of Ramgarh. It has been learned that the attack comes on the lines of dispute between the trader and the group which had been extorting money from him over a period of time.

Ansari's vehicle was also gutted into fire during the attack; the police have deployed heavy security to maintain calm in the area.
