After 7-hour long surgery, doctors stitch back Punjab cop's hand

Patiala : The doctors have successfully stitched back the hand of a Punjab Police cop who was attacked while imposing the lockdown orders in Patiala, Chief Minister Amarinder Singh has said. 

ASI Harjeet Singh's wrist was chopped off and two other policemen were injured after a group of people attacked them at a vegetable market where they were positioned to ensure lockdown.

The Punjab CM announced on Twitter that seven and half hour long surgery was successful. He tweeted: "I am happy to share that a 7 1/2 hour long surgery has been successfully completed in PGI to repair the severed wrist of ASI Harjeet Singh. I thank the entire team of doctors and support staff for their painstaking effort. Wishing ASI Harjeet Singh a speedy recovery."


Punjab Police chief Dinkar Gupta also tweeted that Harjeet Singh was recovering well.  

"Just spoke with the lead Plastic surgeon who did the successful surgery to stitch back the hand of our brave corona warrior ASI Harjeet Singh. Also spoke with Harjeet, who is in high spirits. We still have to wait and watch for the next five days," Dinkar Gupta tweeted.

In Punjab, the lockdown has been extended till May 1.
