New Delhi : Just a couple of days are left when schedule for upcoming Lok Sabha Elections will be released. And to woo the voters, Centre has announced a reduction of Rs 2 per litre in the prices of petrol and diesel.

In a post on X, Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri said, "By reducing the prices of petrol and diesel by Rs 2, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has once again proved that the welfare and convenience of his family of crores of Indians is always his goal." He also mentioned that there has been a severe oil crisis across the globe in recent years; despite that PM Modi-led government has slashed fuel prices by up to Rs 5 in last 2 and half years.

On average, the price of petrol was Rs 94 per litre, while the price of diesel was Rs 87 per litre as on March 14, the minister said.

Interestingly, the new discount was announced just after Prime Minister Narendra Modi gifted a price reduction of Rs 100 for LPG cylinders on International Women's Day.
