AIOBCSA delegation meets Rahul Gandhi, raises key demands on OBC reservation

New Delhi : Today, a delegation from the All India OBC Students Association (AIOBCSA) met with Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, at the Parliament House. During the meeting, the delegation raised several important concerns related to the OBC community.
The representatives urged Rahul Gandhi to bring up the issue in Parliament, pointing out that the recruitment process for ‘Young Professionals’ in various government ministries and public enterprises is openly violating the OBC reservation policy. They emphasized that this is not only a violation of the Constitution but also goes against the principles of social justice.
The delegation also called for a stronger OBC reservation policy in Congress-ruled states, especially in Telangana and Karnataka.
Following the meeting, Rahul Gandhi tweeted, "It is truly unfortunate that even after decades, millions of students still face caste-based discrimination in our education system. Now is the time to put a complete stop to this injustice." He further added, "Babasaheb Ambedkar showed that education is the key to empowering the oppressed to break caste barriers, but even today, millions of students still face caste-based discrimination. I have written to Siddaramaiah ji urging him to implement the Rohith Vemula Act in Karnataka. No child in India should face the kind of caste discrimination that Babasaheb Ambedkar, Rohith Vemula, and millions of others have endured."
Advocate Pankaj Kushwaha, National Convenor of AIOBCSA, said, "We request to Rahul Gandhi ji to increased the adequate representation of OBC in the Congress-ruled state, we will effectively fight against caste-based discrimination and secure justice for OBC students. His support has given us hope that, together, we can break the barriers of casteism and create an equal society for all."
The delegation also highlighted the need for greater representation of OBC students in academic roles, including Assistant Professors, Associate Professors, and Professors, at IITs, IIMs, central universities, and other premier educational institutions.
The delegation was led by AIOBCSA’s National Convenor, Advocate Pankaj Kushwaha, and also included National President Shri Kiren Goud, National General Secretary Ritu Chaurasia, National Vice President Pupu Raj Yadav, along with senior professors and student representatives from various universities.
AIOBCSA is continuously working towards securing the rights of OBC students and upholding social justice. This meeting with Rahul Gandhi marks a significant step in that direction.
