Air India flight from Paris diverted to Jaipur, fliers sent to Delhi in a bus
New Delhi : In a bizarre flight experience, Air India flight from Paris was diverted to Jaipur on Tuesday; the passengers were later sent to Delhi in a bus as pilots refused to continue the flight after their working hours ended.
Air India has released no official statement over the incident. However, it has been learned that a substitute flight was not arranged and passengers were sent via a bus, as it would have taken much longer time to transport the passengers to Delhi.
AI-2022, which took off from Paris at 10pm on Sunday, was scheduled to reach Delhi at 10.35am on Monday. The flight, however, was diverted to Jaipur on Monday morning because of smog in the national capital.
According to a media report, the flight waited for clearance at Jaipur Airport; but the pilots refused to continue citing completion of flying hours as the reason. According to the rules, the pilots must take appropriate rest to avoid fatigue during the flight for safety reasons.
