Akhilesh, Mayawati to announce alliance for Lok Sabha Polls on Saturday

Lucknow : Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) and Samajwadi Party (SP) chiefs Mayawati and Akhilesh Yadav are likely to announce alliance for the upcoming Lok Sabha Polls on Saturday. The announcement will be made via joint press conference.

The two parties will be joining hands to defeat the Bharatiya Janata Party in the upcoming general elections. They are not considering Congress for the alliance.

Last year, BSP had lent support to SP in UP bypolls last year to three Lok Sabha seats and won them all, in a move that the SP had called the beginning of “a larger Bahujan secular alliance”.

The information about a joint press conference has been shared by P national secretary Rajendra Chaudhary and Bahujan Samaj Party national general secretary SC Misra.

Early this month, Akhilesh Yadav and Mayawati had discussed seat-sharing in Delhi. As per information, both BSP and SP will contest on 37 seats each.

Of the 80 Lok Sabha constituencies in UP, the BJP and its ally Apna Dal won 73 in 2014. The SP won five, and the Congress two.
