New Delhi : The results of Assembly Elections 2022 in five states were announced on Thursday. Bharatiya Janata Party retained power in Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand, the party was also leading in Manipur and Goa. Aam Aadmi Party emerged as a surprise and was set to mark landslide victory in Punjab.

In Uttar Pradesh, BJP was leading in more than 250 seats, comfortable mark for majority seats in the state. Akhilesh Yadav's Samajwadi Party retained the second spot as it gave a little competition by leading on 108 seats. Bahujan Samajwadi Party, RLD and Congress came up with a very poor show in the state.

In Punjab, Congress faced a nightmare as AAP swept the poll with a lead on 89 seats and left Congress fighting on just 18 seats.

Talking about Uttarakhand, BJP came up with a similar show like Uttar Pradesh. BJP has become the second party which has won two consecutive terms in the hill state since its creation in 2000. In the state, the saffron party was leading on 42 seats and Congress was ahead in 24 seats.

In Manipur, BJP is set to retain the power as it was leading on 21 seats. In Goa, the BJP is leading on 19 seats.
