Ban Blue Whale Game: High Court asks Centre to respond on PIL

Mumbai : The Mumbai High Court on Thursday directed Centre to file an affidavit in response to a PIL seeking ban on the deadly Blue Whale Challenge game that has killed many in the country and the world.

A city based NGO has filed a PIL seeking a direction to put an end on the game that ends with the suicide of the player.

To the petitioner, the chief justice said, "For everything, one cannot expect the court and government to take action and do something. Even the parents should check what their children are doing. Parents think their kids are in college, but they (kids) are in fact roaming elsewhere playing such games."

The petition has also asked for a 24-hour helpline number for parents and kids who are a victim for the game and seeks help to fight against it.

"Downloading mobile games is very easy in India and the authorities are not equipped to handle such issues," the PIL said.
