Betrayal Day: Rakesh Tikait announces protest on January 31
New Delhi : Bharatiya Kisan Union leader Rakesh Tikait on Sunday alleged that the government has betrayed the farmers and announced protest by observing "Betrayal Day" on January 31, 2022.
The influential leader of North India's farmers claimed that the government has not fulfilled any promise they had made in the letter given on December 9 to end the year-long farmers' protest.
"A nation-wide 'Betrayal Day' will be observed on January 31 because of government's betrayal to farmers. The movement was suspended on the basis of a letter given by the government on December 9 but those promises have not been fulfilled,” Tikait wrote in a tweet in Hindi.
The farmers protest, started in November 2020, had came to an end on December 2021 after the government withdrew three new farm laws.
While the farmers lifted their tents from main entry points to Delhi, they have demanded a guaranteed MSP from the government.
