New Delhi : Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and his family left their home in the capital and moved to a secret location after a score of protests were seen outside the Parliament Hill against mandatory vaccine guidelines for cross border truckers.

Trudeau's government recently made coronavirus vaccine jabs mandatory for cross border truckers.

Thousands of truckers and other protesters converged in the Capital city on Saturday to call for an end to COVID-19 vaccine mandates and other public health restrictions, the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation reported.

The police has been put on high alert for possible violence with thousands of demonstrators gathering into the parliamentary precinct, despite harsh winter weather conditions.

"I am sickened to see protesters dance on the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and desecrate the National War Memorial. Generations of Canadians have fought and died for our rights, including free speech, but not this. Those involved should hang their heads in shame," General Wayne Eyre tweeted.

Recently, PM Justin Trudeau had said that he is concerned over the protest, but he estimated that it will be among the minority segment as the mandate will not affect the majority.
