Rape accused SP leader Gayatri Prajapati arrested from Lucknow

Lucknow : Absconding from a long time former Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Gayatri Prajapati, accused in a gangrape case, has been arrested by the Uttar Pradesh Police.

The arrest has been made from his residence in Lucknow and now will be taken to jail for interrogation.

He had been on the run since an FIR was lodged against him in February this year on a directive of the Supreme Court.

Gayatri Prajapati is a senior Samajwadi Party leader close to both Mulayam Singh Yadav and Akhilesh Yadav and is the party candidate from Amethi.
