Chhattisgarh : Chhattisgarh government on Sunday announced a hike of five per cent in Dearness Allowance payable to the state government employees; the announcement came on the occasion of International Labour Day.

Earlier, the DA of the employees was 17 per cent and now it has reached 22 per cent after the hike of five per cent. Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel announced the news on Twitter.

"A big decision has been taken today to benefit the employees. There will be an increment in the dearness allowance of government employees by five per cent. The new rate will come to effect from May 1," tweeted Bhupesh Baghel in Hindi.

It must be noted that the decision comes in line of long lasting demand from the government employees to make the DA in line of Central government which is 34 per cent.

Last month, some government employees have also protested with demands to increase DA, claiming that Chhattisgarh is 17 per cent behind in terms of Dearness Allowance.
