New Delhi : Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Saturday crushed down Bhagwant Mann's demand to shift Chandigarh to Punjab completely, saying that this is meaningless and Chandigarh will remain the capital of both Punjab and Haryana.

The remarks by Khattar came during a press conference. He said that the resolution by Punjab government is meaningless and this is not the first time such a resolution has been passed.

"It is not just a matter of Punjab, but Chandigarh has share with Haryana and Himachal Pradesh too," Mr Khattar added.

Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann on Friday passed a resolution in assembly to immediately transfer Chandigarh to Punjab. The resolution was passed against the Centre's decision to put Chandigarh under central service rule.

The one-day special assembly session comes days after Union home minister Amit Shah's announcement that the central service rules will apply to employees of the Union Territory of Chandigarh.
