Complaint filed against DU professor over derogatory remark on Durga

New Delhi : A complaint has been registered against an assistant professor of Delhi University's Dayal Singh College for allegedly making derogatory remarks over goddess Durga in one of his Facebook posts that he deleted later.

BJP's student wing, Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), raised demands of instant suspension against the assistant professor saying that his post has hurt the religious sentiments and is totally unacceptable.

Kedar Mandal, a Hindi assistant professor at Dyal Singh College, allegedly posted a status on his Facebook account containing inappropriate language referring goddess Durga. Following which, the teachers of the college registered a complaint against him at the Lodhi Road police station.

In the complaint letter, the teachers have accused him of "making a mischievous attempt to hurt people's feelings" and demanded strict action against him.

“This is a deplorable, mischievous attempt to hurt sentiments in a tolerant country,” the complaint read.

The cops confirmed that a police complaint has been registered.
