New Delhi : The coronavirus cases in India has shown a rapid growth in last couple of days. In the last 24 hours, India logged around 1300 new coronavirus cases, which is highest in last 140 days. With this, the active cases have increased to 765, according to Union Health Ministry data. The death toll has also increased to 5,30,816 with 3 fresh deaths on Thursday.

One each death was reported from Karnataka, Gujarat and Maharashtra.

The daily positivity rate is at 1.46%, while the weekly positivity rate has gone to 1.08%.

PM Narendra Modi high level meeting

On Wednesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a high level meeting to discuss the covid situation amid rise in cases in the country and also took a stock of the public health preparedness. 

So far, no restrictions have been announced. But the health ministry has advised people to wear mask in public places.

On March 19th, the Health Ministry had issued a revised guideline for COVID-19 in the wake of search in the cases.

"Antibiotics should not be used unless there is clinical suspicion of bacterial infection. The possibility of coinfection of Covid-19 with other endemic infections must be considered. Systemic corticosteroids are not indicated in mild disease," revised guidelines said.
