Coronavirus: India reports 1.73 lakh new coronavirus cases, 3617 deaths in last 24 hours

New Delhi : The decline in daily number of new coronavirus cases continued with India registering 1.73 lakh new cases and 3617 deaths in last 24 hours. This is the lowest number of daily cases in the last 45 days.

The total number of coronavirus cases in India now stands at 27,729,247; and the total number of fatalities in the nation is at 3,22,512, according to the official data on the Health Ministry website.

The active caseload on the nation has also declined to 22,28,724. More than 2.8 lakh people have recovered from the coronavirus within the last 24 hours.

According to the health ministry, the weekly positivity rate currently stands at 9.84%, while the daily positivity rate is 8.36%, less than 10% for 5 consecutive days. 

According to the Indian Council of Medical Research, a total of 2,080,048 samples were tested in the last 24 hours in the country and cumulatively 341,119,909 tests have been done so far.

Meanwhile, the government has announced that they are aiming to increase vaccination and complete the process by the end of this year.
