New Delhi : Congress leader Rahul Gandhi yielded a fresh attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, alleging that he is once again trying to hide his lies. He charged that more than 40 lakh Indians lost their lives during coronavirus pandemic due to government's "negligence".

Writing on Twitter, he also attached a screenshot of a news report by New York Times that claimed that India is stalling WHO's efforts to make COVID deaths public.

"PM Narendra Modi never speaks truth and also stops others from doing the same. He still claims that no-one in India died due to oxygen shortage," Rahul Gandhi wrote on Twitter.

"I have said earlier, over 40 lakh people lost their lives due to government's negligence," he added in the tweet.

He also demanded a compensation of Rs 4 lakh each died due to negligence during coronavirus pandemic.

Meanwhile, according to Union Health Ministry, the death toll in India has climbed to 5,21,751 with four fresh fatalities.
