New Delhi : Former Tata Sons chairman Cyrus Mistry passed away in a car crash in Palghar near Mumbai on Sunday. He was 54 years old.

He was sitting on the back seat of the car and it is being said that he was not wearing the seat belt. According to police, he was travelling from Ahmedabad to Mumbai in a luxury car worth Rs 70 lakh.

The accident took place at around 3:15 on the bridge of Surya River. There were four people inside the car. 2 people, including Mistry, died on the spot and the other two on the front seat were shifted to the hospital with severe injuries.

The body of Cyrus Mistry has been shifted to Kasa Rural Hospital for postmortem.

The gynecologist, Anahita Pandole (55), and her husband Darius Pandole (60) survived the crash, while Mistry (54) and Jahangir Pandole, brother of Darius, were killed in the accident.

In the preliminary investigations, the police is suspecting it to be clear case of road accident due to over-speeding.
