Delhi-NCR air pollution continues to remain under 'very poor' and 'severe' categories
New Delhi : The pollution level is continuing to be under 'very poor' and 'severe' categories in the Delhi-NCR region, leading schools to continue with online classes for the students. In Noida, the school authorities have decided to continue online classes on Monday; while in Ghaziabad, schools will keep online classes for the whole week till further notice.
"In view of the instructions given by the District Magistrate, Gautam Buddha Nagar on November 18, regarding the discontinuation of physical classes from pre-school to class 12 due to the breach of Air Quality Index (AQI) of Delhi-NCR to Severe+ category with (450+AQI), all schools of the District Gautam Buddh Nagar are directed to follow the above order till November 25," stated the order issued by Dharamvir Singh, District Inspector of Schools (DIOS).
Earlier, it was expected that the physical classes for students will restart from Monday onwards.
In Delhi, the confusion over offline classes continue as the national capital is still under GRAP III restrictions and there are no clear instructions on whether the schools will reopen or continue with the online classes.
Delhi Air Pollution
With an AQI of over 400, the air pollution in Delhi had once again shifted to 'severe' category in many areas.
According to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), which provides hourly AQI updates, 20 monitoring stations, including Alipur, Anand Vihar, Ashok Vihar, Bawana, Chandni Chowk, DTU, Dwarka, Jahangirpuri, Mandir Marg, Narela, Nehru Nagar, Patparganj, Rohini, Punjabi Bagh, Wazirpur, and Mundka, registered readings above 400, placing them in the ‘severe’ category.
Since, such AQIs can cause severe health issues due to the excess of PM 2.5, people are advised to remain inside their houses.
