Delhi reports 89 new coronavirus cases, lowest since April last year

New Delhi : Delhiā€™s daily coronavirus count dropped below 100-mark for the first time since April last year. On Monday, Delhi recorded 89 coronavirus cases and 11 deaths in the last 24 hours.

The positivity rate in Delhi dipped below 0.16 per cent, lowest since the beginning of the pandemic. As many as 57,128 samples were tested over the past 24 hours. The total number of samples tested so far is 2,08,31,799.

The total number of active coronavirus cases in Delhi stands at 1996 and recovery rate stands at 98.12 per cent.

With 11 new deaths, the total tally of coronavirus fatalities in Delhi stand at 24,925.

On April 21, Delhi reported its highest single-day spike of 28,395 cases recorded in a span of 24 hours.

To control the spike in coronavirus case, Delhi had imposed a strict lockdown in the national capital.

With decline in coronavirus cases, the national capital has started relaxing norms. The government has allowed opening of bars, public parks and gardens. 

But, people have been seen flouting coronavirus rules as markets reopen in Delhi. People were seen not wearing masks and not maintaining social distance while being in the crowded place.

Words of caution have also come from the Delhi High Court.
