Delhi set to witness another flood as water level in Yamuna reaches danger mark

New Delhi : The Yamuna River in Delhi has once again surpassed the danger mark due to increased water release via the Hathinikund Barrage. As of 4 pm on Sunday, the water level in the National Capital reached 206.31 meters.

In response to this situation, the administration in the low-lying areas has issued an advisory, urging residents to vacate their homes and seek safety in higher areas.

Earlier in the morning, the water level in the Yamuna River had reached 205.81 meters, slightly above the danger mark of 205.33 meters.

The Delhi Government is currently on high alert as a significant discharge of 2 lakh cusecs of water has been released into the Yamuna River from Haryana's Hathinikund Barrage.

Additionally, the Hindon River in Noida also experienced a rise in water level, resulting in the submergence of several houses in low-lying areas on Saturday. The police have responded to the situation and issued an alert to residents regarding the potential risks.
