New Delhi : Former Prime Minister of India Manmohan Singh has tested positive for coronavirus on Monday; he has been admitted to the AIIMS trauma centre in Delhi, reported news agency ANI. He was having mild fever from past couple of days.

He has tested positive for coronavirus days after he was administered both doses of COVID 19. He was given first vaccine on March 4 and the second vaccine on April 3. According to the news report, he has been shifted as a matter of precaution.

AIIMS will be issuing a detailed health bulletin later.

Soon after the news of him being admitted to the hospital broke out. His well wishers started praying for his good health soon.

"Dear Dr Manmohan Singhji, Wishing you a speedy recovery. India needs your guidance and advice in this difficult time," Rahul Gandhi tweeted.



"My prayers are with Manmohan Singh ji and his family today, and my deepest respect. May he fight this scourge with all his might and get well soon," Priyanka Gandhi Vadra said.



Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee wrote: "Just got the news former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh Ji has tested positive for COVID. Sir, our thoughts and prayers for a speedy and full recovery."



On Saturday, he had written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi about suggestions to combat coronavirus in the nation.

He urged Prime Minister Modi to allow states to define categories of frontline workers that need to be vaccinated against Covid on priority "even if they are below 45 years of age".
