Haryana lost Rs 126,68,71,700 during Dera chief violence: Report
Ambala : A massive violence had erupted in Haryana State after Dera Chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh was convicted in a rape case, resulting in a total loss of over Rs 126 crores to the state.
The loss includes damage to public and private properties across the state. According to a report, the revised gist of claims and losses incurred during the violence caused a loss of Rs 126,68,71,700 in all the districts.
Among all, Amabala remained to be the worst hit with the maximum loss of Rs 46.84 crore, the Times of India reported.
Fatehabad remained on number 2 spot for suffering a loss of Rs 14.87 crore due to revenue loss and money spent on resources used to control the situation.
The third district is Sirsa, which houses the dera headquarters, suffered a loss of Rs 13.57 crore. Panchkula was the epicentre of violence and it witnessed maximum violence which resulted in the death of 36 people in police firing, suffered losses worth Rs 10.57 crore.
The special CBI court in Panchkula had on August 25, 2017 convicted Gurmeet Ram Rahim in 2002 rape cases.
