Home Minister Amit Shah pained with 14 deaths in Rajasthan Pandal collapse

Jaipur : At least 14 people were dead and over 50 were left injured after a tent in Rajasthan's Barmer collapsed following heavy rain and thunderstorm. The injured people were immediately shifted to nearby hospitals.

The incident took place at a school ground near the Rani Bhatiyani temple in Barmer district's Jasol village, around 500 km from Jaipur, where more than a thousand people had gathered for a religious event.

According to reports, many people got trapped inside the tent and were electrocuted due to the generators at the venue. An investigation in the matter has been ordered by the state government.

The government also announced compensation of Rs. 5 lakh each to the families of those killed, and up to Rs. 2 lakh to those injured.



Home Minister Amit Shah also expressed his pain over the incident.

"Pained to know about the loss of lives due to collapse of a pandaal in Barmer, Rajasthan. I express my deepest nces to the bereaved families. May the injured recover quickly," he tweeted.
