New Delhi : The monthly cost of preparing food at home is going to increase as the prices of domestic LPG cylinders have been hiked by Rs 50 per unit, with effect from July 6.

This is the third time when the prices of gas cylinders have been increased in just two months.

With the latest hike, the cost of non-subsidized domestic cylinders will increase to Rs 1,053 from Rs 1,003 in Delhi. The new price in Mumbai is Rs 1,052.50 (Rs 1,002.50); Chennai Rs 1,068.50 (Rs.1,018.50) and Kolkata Rs 1,079.00 (Rs 1,029).

In cities like Hyderabad, the cost of 1 LPG cylinder is over Rs 1100.

The hike in prices have augmented people's trouble as the monsoon has struck several regions, including south and central India badly.

Barring those issued LPG connections under Centre’s Ujjwala scheme, almost all other households are ineligible or get a small sum as cooking gas subsidy.

The domestic prices of LPG cylinders have been hiked due to hike in crude oil prices. Earlier the prices of cylinders were last revised in May this year.
