New Delhi : A Class 10 student of a government school in East Delhi's Krishna Nagar stabbed his classmate six times with a knife at the campus playground on Thursday morning.

The victim boy suffered four stabs on his back and two on his arms soon after the morning assembly of the school, said the police.

The accused teen boy was caught and handed over to police by the school authorities. They also admitted the injured boy to Hedgewar Hospital, where doctors said his condition is stable.

A case has been registered in the Krishna Nagar Police Station; the accused boy has been taken into custody and the knife used in the crime has been seized.

The motive behind the attack in continuous bullying between the boys in recent past. Both the students used to be the classmates till last year.

“The fight took place after the morning prayer, when students were being dispersed from the ground so that they could go back to classrooms. We conduct surprise checks to see if any student is carrying a mobile phone. But this student was carrying a vegetable knife, which no one noticed. The case is now with the police,” said Dinesh Kumar, vice-principal of the school.
