Chennai : DMK chief MK Stalin's son-in-law has been raided by the Income Tax officials on Friday. The officials started searching his houses at around 8 am at four places in Chennai.

Among the premises searched by taxmen was a home in Neelangarai where DMK chief’s daughter Senthamarai lives with Sabareesan. According to a media report, the raids have been conducted after reports of cash movement four days before the elections.

"I am MK Stalin. I have seen MISA itself," posted Mr Stalin on the searches at his daughter's home, referring to a controversial law used by the then Congress government to crack down on politicians.

Supporters of DMK leaders have gathered around the Neelangarai home to show their support.

Locations linked to the associates of Sabareesan, Karthik and Bala, were also searched. Karthik is the son of the DMK candidate from Annanagar, Mohan.

The IT raids come days after Mr Stalin's son Udhayanidhi questioned what he called the exponential rise in the wealth of Union Home Minister Amit Shah's son Jay Shah.

This is the second instance of tax raids against DMK leaders ahead of the April 6 election.

Last month, senior DMK leader and candidate EV Velu was raided on the basis of "credible inputs of cash movement" during the campaign.

The results of the Tamil Nadu election will be declared declared on May 2.
