India confirms precision strikes in Operation Sindoor, neutralizes key terror infrastructure

New Delhi : In a high-level press briefing on Sunday, Director General of Military Operations (DGMO) Lt Gen Rajiv Ghai confirmed that India launched a series of precision counterstrikes between May 7 and 10 under Operation Sindoor, in response to Pakistan’s recent aggression and in retaliation for the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack that claimed 26 Indian lives. The strikes reportedly resulted in the loss of approximately 35–40 Pakistani military personnel.

Lt Gen Ghai stated that Operation Sindoor was designed with a clear strategic objective: to dismantle terrorist networks, eliminate planners and perpetrators, and destroy associated infrastructure. “Our objective on May 7 was to specifically target terror camps and logistics—not civilian or standard military installations—and this was executed with surgical accuracy,” he said.

However, Pakistan responded by deploying a barrage of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and drones that targeted both military and civilian areas. “Three drones landed but caused only minimal damage. All incoming threats were effectively intercepted,” he added.

Escalations continued through the night of May 8–9, with Pakistan violating Indian airspace and launching largely ineffective attempts to strike military installations. These provocations led to intensified engagements along the Line of Control (LoC).

Air Marshal A.K. Bharti detailed the aerial offensive, confirming strikes on Pakistani airbases and military command centres across the Western Front, including Chaklala, Rafiqui, Rahim Yar Khan, Sargodha, Bhulari, and Jacobabad. “Our mission was focused on neutralizing threats—not counting casualties. The impact speaks for itself,” he asserted.

India’s military leadership emphasized that these actions were necessary and proportionate, sending a clear signal: any form of aggression or terrorism will meet a decisive response.
