IPL 2025 to Resume on May 16 Amid Rising Global Anticipation

New Delhi : Cricket fans can finally rejoice—IPL 2025 is set to resume on May 16, according to a report. After a week-long suspension due to the escalating conflict between India and Pakistan, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has reportedly informed all franchises to prepare for the restart. The remaining matches will be hosted across four venues, with the final likely to take place on either May 30 or June 1.
The tournament was temporarily halted following the abandonment of a match between Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Delhi Capitals (DC) in Dharamshala. In the wake of the suspension, several international players and team staff returned to their respective home countries, casting doubt over the season's completion. However, momentum is now returning.
“We have informed all the stakeholders about it, and teams are calling back their players and support staff. Ekana is getting ready for the match, and the LSG team is to assemble by May 13,” India Today quoted a BCCI source as saying.
So far, 57 matches have been completed in IPL 2025, with 16 fixtures still to go, including the high-stakes Playoffs. The final, originally scheduled for May 25 at Eden Gardens, has been postponed and will now be held on a later date depending on logistical arrangements.
