Indian Air Force to acquire 114 fighter jets for Rs 1.5 lakh crore
New Delhi : To give India's Atmanirbhar Bharat scheme a push, the Indian Air Force is planning to acquire 114 fighter jets for an approximate price of Rs 1.5 lakh crore. 96 of them will be made in India. The other 18 will be imported from foreign vendors. According to a news report, the IAF had talks with the foreign vendors to discuss how this can be done via 'Make in India' projects.
It has been learned that the first 18 aircrafts will be imported and then the next 36 will be made in India. For these the payments will be done partially in foreign currency and Indian currency. The last 60 will be completely made in alliance with Indian partners and the payments will be done only in Indian currency.
India has been focusing on improving the defense equipments. Recently, the tricolour nation had received the first lot of Rafale jets. The latest lot is more deadlier and advanced than the previous version.
