Indian Army assures strict action against Gogoi if found guilty

New Delhi : Indian Army on Friday assured a strict action against Major Leetul Gogoi if he is found guilty of sharing a room with a young woman in a Srinagar hotel.

As per initial investigations and documents submitted by the woman, it has been learned that she is not a minor and she had come to the hotel to meet the major on her own will.

In her statement to the police, the woman said she had gotten in touch with Gogoi over Facebook.

The woman’s Aadhar card, which was given to the police, shows that she was born in November 1999.

The senior police officer added that “the probe is still on and no conclusion has been reached so far”.

“So far there is no legal case here, but tomorrow the girl and her family can turn around and say something,” said the police officer.

On Wednesday, Major Leetul Gogoi, his driver and a young woman were detained after locals filed a complaint against the major for having illegal relation with the lady.

Gogoi had shot the fame last year for using human shield in Srinagar to avoid stone pelting.
