New Delhi : Coronavirus new sub-variant has been spreading its wings in India recently; Delhi has reported its first case of JN.1 variant after one of the three samples sent for Genome Sequencing tested positive for it. The other two were found to be carrying omicron.

According to the Health Minister, JN.1 is a sub variant of Omicron that comes with mild symptoms and does not have any major health hazards. He requested people to stay calm and get themselves tested in case of symptoms related to coronavirus.

The authorities are on an alert and a number of samples are being tested via genome sequencing to trace JN.1 coronavirus subvariant.

Out of these, 36 cases were detected from Gujarat, 34 from Karnataka, 14 from Goa, nine from Maharashtra, six from Kerala, four each from Rajasthan and Tamil Nadu, and two from Telangana.
