New Delhi : A village in Jammu and Kashmir's Doda district is facing similar situation like Joshimath. Over 20 houses and a mosque have developed cracks, triggering panic among the residents.

The administration has shifted families living in the houses to a safer place and experts have been sent to the village to investigate the matter and the reason behind sinking of the village.

"We are taking all necessary actions to ensure safety of people and that they are not put to any kind of disadvantage," Doda Deputy Commissioner Vishesh  Mahajan said.

In the village, there are more than 50 houses in which people are living.

In the initial reports it has been suspected that the construction of roads and seepage of water may have caused the soil shifting in the hilly village.
