New Delhi : On Saturday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced that LK Advani, a prominent leader of BJP, will be conferred India's highest civilian honor, Bharat Ratna. Expressing his joy, PM Modi conveyed his congratulations to the seasoned BJP leader. 

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), the Prime Minister shared, "I am very happy to share that Shri LK Advani Ji will be conferred the Bharat Ratna. I also spoke to him and congratulated him on being conferred this honour."

“One of the most respected statesmen of our times, his contribution to the development of India is monumental. His is a life that started from working at the grassroots to serving the nation as our Deputy Prime Minister,” PM Modi added.

“He distinguished himself as our Home Minister and I&B Minister as well. His Parliamentary interventions have always been exemplary, full of rich insights,” the Prime Minister wrote.

Advani, 96, is one of the founding members of the BJP and served as Deputy Prime Minister of India from 2002 to 2004. He is considered a stalwart of the party and played a key role in its rise to national prominence.
