New Delhi : On 2nd February 2023, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi took to Twitter to express his disappointment with the Union Budget 2023, calling it a "Mitr Kaal" budget instead of an "Amrti Kaal" budget.

In his tweet, Gandhi highlighted the growing wealth disparity in India, stating that the top 1% of the population owns 40% of the wealth, while the poorest 50% pay 64% of the goods and services tax (GST). He also pointed out the alarmingly high unemployment rate among the country's youth, with 42% currently without a job.

Gandhi criticized the Prime Minister for not taking these issues seriously and not addressing them in the budget. He also accused the government of neglecting the needs of the people, particularly the poor and the youth, who are struggling to make ends meet in the current economic situation.

The tweet received widespread attention and sparked a heated debate on social media, with many echoing Gandhi's views on the budget and the government's handling of the economy.

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Wednesday announced full budget for 2023 in which she announced that there will be no income tax on annual earnings up to ₹7,00,000 per year. The opposition on the other hand trashed the budget speech and called it aisa election speech, they claimed hey sitaraman did not even mention the word unemployment, poverty, inequality once in her speech.
