Madhya Pradesh : The culprit behind the death of Madhya Pradesh journalist Sandeep Sharma has been arrested by the police on Monday night from Bhind. On Monday morning, a driver of the dumper truck ran over the journalist killing him on the spot. Since then, the state Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan promised for strict action against the accused.

Identified as Ranbir Yadav, the truck driver hails from Gadu Pura village. However, the trucks which run over the victim belonged to Bhaskar Sharma, a resident of Gwalior. The vehicle bears the registration number MP 07 HB 4164.

While scrutinizing, the driver said, in order to save a woman's life, TV journalist Sandeep Sharma was mowed down by his truck.

"I was trying to save a woman when I took the turn. I didn't even see the side glass," said the accused to ANI.

As of now, the police are investigating the actual matter and interrogating the accused.

In a CCTV footage that was recorded on Monday morning, an investigative journalist was mowed down by a truck in Madhya Pradesh's Bhind.

Sandeep Sharma was a brave journalist with a national news channel. He was probing a possible nexus between the police and the sand mafia.

In the CCTV video, Sharma was seen riding a motorcycle when a speeding truck crushed him on the spot. Sources confirmed that journalist had earlier filed a police complaint about the threat to his life. He had been receiving death threats by some unknown people.

While the state police have set up a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate the Sandeep Sharma's death, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and has also assured strict action against the culprits involved in the murder.

Congress has asked for a CBI Investigation into the death of Sandeep Sharma.
