Mulayam Singh Yadav's body reaches Saifai village, cremation on Tuesday

Saifai : Samjwadi Party (SP) chief Mulayam Singh Yadav's party arrived at his native village Saifai on Monday after he passed away in the morning at Medanta Hospital in Gurugram.

His son Akhilesh Yadav and other family members received the mortal remains which will be kept till Tuesday for fans and followers who wish to play their last tributes. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also paid his tributes to the leader.

The cremation will take place on Tuesday.

Mulayam Singh was 82 year old

The Samajwadi Party leader was 82 year old. He was admitted to the hospital in August due to age related issues. His health deteriorated a couple of days back and he was shifted to the ICU of Medanta Hospital on October 2; he finally lost his battle for life and passed away on Monday morning. 

Born on November 22, 1939, into a farming family in Saifai, Yadav spawned the state's most prominent political clan. Also known as "Netaji", Yadav served as defence minister from 1996 1998, and Uttar Pradeh's chief minister thrice in 1989-91, 1993-95, and 2003-07.

Three-day mourning in Uttar Pradesh

UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, who visited Saifai on Monday, announced three day mourning in the state to mark respect for the political leader.

He also announced that the last rites will be performed with full state honour on Tuesday.

RIP Mulayam Singh Yadav.
