Nation remembers its first President Dr. Rajendra Prasad on his 139th birth anniversary
New Delhi : The commemorative event marking the 139th birth anniversary of India's first President, Dr. Rajendra Prasad, was inaugurated in Delhi by the former speaker of the Delhi Legislative Assembly, Dr. Yoganand Shastri, along with Malviya Nagar legislator and Vice Chairman of Delhi Jal Board, Mr. Somanath Bharti. The event saw the lighting of the ceremonial lamp by Mr. Vijayshankar Chaturvedi, Vice Chairman of the Chintan Samiti, and Mr. Ram Krishna Sharma, the coordinator, expressed respect for Rajendra Babu while paying homage.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Somanath Bharti said, "Rajendra Babuji actively participated in the struggle for independence, standing shoulder to shoulder with Gandhi Ji, Nehru Ji and Sardar Patel Ji . His remarkable contribution played a crucial role in leading the nation to freedom. Guided by the principles of our Constitution, today, we should all pledge to walk the path shown by Dr. Rajendra Babu."
Dr. Yoganand Shastri, former Speaker of the Delhi Legislative Assembly, said, "Dr. Rajendra Prasad was a great freedom fighter and a true patriot. His significant contribution is evident in the drafting of the Constitution. He emphasized that Rajendra Babu bestowed political dignity upon his life of sacrifice and asceticism."
Mr. Vijayshankar Chaturvedi, the Vice Chairman of the Chintan Samiti, remarked, "Dr. Rajendra Prasad made serving the nation his life's goal since the days of the independence struggle, and he steadfastly continued on that path throughout his life. We should today reaffirm our commitment to Rajendra Babu's vision of keeping India united and indivisible."
Mr. Ram Krishna Sharma, Convenor of the Rajendra Chintan Samiti, said, "Dr. Rajendra Prasad efforts towards democracy and unity will resonate for generations to come. He was a source of profound wisdom and strong leadership, a matter of great pride."
During the event, Mr. Manoj Kumar Sharma, the founder of PR Guru, social worker Mr. Rahul Sharma, and senior journalist Mr. Sunil Negi were honored with shawls and symbols representing Rajendra Babu.
While receiving the honor, Mr. Manoj Kumar Sharma said, "Dr. Rajendra Prasad established high standards of simplicity and morality in public life. Today, we can pay a true tribute to him by walking the path he showed us."
