New Delhi : Union agriculture minister Narendra Singh Tomar informed Parliament on Wednesday that the government has no record of farmers who were protesting on the Delhi NCR border against the controversial 3 farm laws, so no financial aid can be provided from the centre to the families of farmers who lost their lives  during the protest.

He was replying to the opposition's query on if the government will provide financial aid to the farmers who have lost their life during the protest.

Farmers leaders have maintained that over 700 farmers were killed during the protest at Delhi NCR border - Singhu, Tikri and Ghazipur - since November 2020.The deaths  but mainly due to bad weather, illness contracted due to unhygienic conditions and suicides.

Meanwhile, the government has asked farmers to end the protest as the three formulas have been taken back. On Wednesday president signed the bill that repealed all the three controversial farm laws.

The farmers have refused to end their protest and asked the government to fulfill their second main demand of  fixed MSP. They are also demanding withdrawal of all police cases lodged against protesting farmers and a compensation for the kin of farmers who died during a protest.

On the other hand, Centre has sought five names from farmer unions for the panel on minimum support price and other issues for the discussion on their demands.
