New Delhi : The Delhi government is keeping a close eye on the coronavirus situation that has came to light due to the new Omicron variant, Health Minister Satyendar Jain said on Tuesday. He also ruled out a possibility of imposing lockdown in the national capital.

Speaking to reporters about it, he said that the government has already imposed a "graded response action plan" and it will be implemented as per requirement in the coming days.

The Omicron variant is spreading out of a few countries, and "we are putting the focus on testing, tracing and isolation of passengers" coming from foreign countries, especially the countries affected by the new variant.

He said the Delhi government authorities are "testing all people coming from the countries affected by the Omicron variant" and cautioned that this variant is far more transmissible than the Delta variant, adding the situation is being "closely monitored".

Till date, 23 people in India have been tested positive for Omicron variant.
