New Delhi : The incidents of bomb threat hoaxes are increasing day by day as more than 20 flights received the bomb threat hoax on Sunday; However, it was lower than single day’s highest of at least 40 flights Saturday.

The pattern of sending threads had begun on Monday and so far, it has affected more than 90 flights causing heavy financial losses for the operators and inconvenience to the travellers.

It is worth mentioning that most of the flights originated from major hubs like Mumbai and New Delhi, leading to extensive security checks and delays with operational challenges amid the festival season.

Meanwhile, civil aviation security has asked the operators to strictly follow Standard Operating Procedure; As per the initial investigation, it has been learned that the messages were sent through virtual private networks or dark web browsers, which make it difficult to trace the real origin.

According to an official, the earlier frequency of bomb threats differs from the current one. Earlier, it was made often by the passengers to delay their flights. But, considering the number of threads coming at the moment, it could be a part of large conspiracy to flood the industry with such messages so that one could be the real. The aviation industry is taking every threat and call very seriously.
