Ahmedabad : The Gujarat government in its recent order made it mandatory for people involved in 'professional activities' to get their coronavirus vaccine shot by June 30. However, the government has not announced what action will be taken against the ones who fail to comply with the order.

The decision has been taken by a core committee of Gujarat government during a meeting headed by CM Vijay Rupani. The meeting was held at his residence in Gujarat.

“It is compulsory for directors, owners and staff of those involved in vyavasayik (professional) activities in 18 cities, where curfew will continue for next few days to get themselves vaccinated by June 30,” the state government said in a release.

"In other areas of the state, all those involved in professional activities will have to get themselves vaccinated by July 10," it added.

"We are yet to decide about what action should be taken against those who will not get themselves vaccinated by the given deadline given," a government official was quoted in a report by India.com.

The aim behind such decision is to ensure that working people who have to step out of their homes to earn money are vaccinated which will lead to control over spread of coronavirus in the state.

So far, 2.39 crore vaccine doses have been given to people of Gujarat. On Thursday, 4.44 lakh people were inoculated in the state.
