Prime Minister Narendra Modi greets the nation on Ambedkar Jayanti

New Delhi : India commemorates the 127th birthday anniversary of Bhim Rao Ambedkar on April 14, Saturday. Prime Minister Narendra Modi Saturday extended greetings to the entire nation on the auspicious occasion. He took his Twitter account to write a few words about Ambedkar Jayanti and also shared a video of himself talking about the leader on various occasions.

In a message on twitter, the PM said, “Greetings on Ambedkar Jayanti. Pujya Babasaheb gave hope to lakhs of people belonging to the poorest and marginalised sections of society. We remain indebted to him for his efforts towards the making of our Constitution.”

Bhim Rao Ambedkar is remembered as “The Father of the Constitution of India” and the man who fought for the oppressed. He is also known as Dalit icon for his contribution towards Dalit Buddhist Movement. The social reformer, economist and jurist have worked a lot for the upliftment of Dalits. He protested against social discrimination against untouchables and also stood for the rights of women and labourers. 

Popularly acknowledged as Babasaheb’, he is also known as the Architect of the Indian Constitution Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Congress President Rahul Gandhi, former PM Manmohan Singh, LK Advani and others pay tribute to BR Ambedkar on his 127th birth anniversary at Parliament, today.

Besides greeting for Ambedkar Jayanti, PM Modi also extended good wishes to the nation on marks harvest festivals across the country, such as Puthandu in Tamil Nadu, Vishu in Kerala, Poila Boishakh in Bengal, Bohag Bihu in Assam, Maha Sishuba Sankranti in Odisha, and Baisakhi in Punjab and parts of north India. “India is proud of the diversity we are blessed with. People across the nation are celebrating various festivals. Greetings to everyone on these special occasions,” he said.
