New Delhi : The Prime Minister Narendra Modi visit in Bihar, today will witness the flag off the India’s first all-electric high-speed locomotive 'Humsafar Express'. The first direct regular air conditioned express train between Katihar and Delhi through video link from Motihari at 11AM on April 10, an NFR official informed today.

Minister of State of Railways Rajen Gohain and several other elected representatives of State Assembly and Parliament will be present at Katihar Railway station to witness the flagging off event, Northeast Frontier Railway CPRO Pranav Jyoti Sharma said in a press release.

The new Humsafar Express train will bear the number 15705/15706K. It bi-weekly train will directly connect Katihar with Delhi Champaran and will have AC 3-tier accommodation. 

Flexi-fare system will be applicable in the train meaning the ticket is changeable, multiple times, until an hour past the trains’ departure time.

The train’s route has been designed via Purnea instead of Barsoi to ensure that maximum number of people in places such as Purnea, Madhepura, Sharsha and Khagaria are benefited, the CPRO said.

The regular train service from Delhi will start from April 13, 2018.

Train number 15705 will leave Katihar on every Monday and Thursday at 05.40 a.m. to arrive at Delhi at 11.40 a.m. next day.

In the return journey train number 15706 will leave Delhi at 01.45 p.m. on every Tuesday and Friday to reach Katihar at 07.20 p.m next day.

This Humsafar Express train is aimed at providing the experience of luxurious travel to common man at an affordable cost, Sharma maintained.

The train has comfortable LHB coaches and many state-of-the art facilities like GPS tracking, bio-toilets, smoke detection system, CCTV cameras, Odour control system etc. This will give the passengers a unique experience, he added.
