New Delhi : Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been selected as the recipient of the prestigious Lokmanya Tilak National Award for his visionary concept of Atmanirbhar Bharat (Self-reliant India) and his contribution in promoting patriotism and raising India's global stature. The award will be presented by the Tilak Smarak Mandir Trust (Hind Swaraj Sangh) on August 1, coinciding with the 103rd death anniversary of the revered nationalist leader Lokmanya Bal Gangadhar Tilak.

The esteemed award, which commemorates the memory of Lokmanya Tilak, a prominent freedom fighter during India's struggle for independence, is conferred annually by the trust on the occasion of Tilak's death anniversary. The ceremony will take place at the Tilak Maharashtra Vidyapeeth, attracting a distinguished gathering of political leaders and luminaries.

Notable attendees include Nationalist Congress Party President Sharad Pawar, who will be the Chief Guest, Governor Ramesh Bais, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Deputy Chief Ministers Devendra Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar, as well as Trustee Sushilkumar Shinde.

The Lokmanya Tilak National Award is a highly regarded accolade that recognizes exceptional leadership and endeavors that promote patriotism among citizens. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will become the 41st recipient of this esteemed honor. The award comprises a memento and a citation, symbolizing the profound recognition of the Prime Minister's remarkable achievements.

In the previous year, the Lokmanya Tilak National Award was bestowed upon renowned scientist Tessy Thomas, popularly known as India's "missile woman." Thomas, who served as the project director for the Agni-4 and Agni-5 missile systems, made significant contributions to the nation's defense capabilities.

The Lokmanya Tilak National Award has been previously conferred upon prominent personalities such as former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Sharad Pawar, Rahul Bajaj, Cyrus Poonawalla, and Manmohan Singh.
