New Delhi : National Democratic Alliance (NDA) leaders held a meeting on Wednesday at PM house in New Delhi where PM Narendra Modi was unanimously appointed as the leader of the alliance. On Saturday, he will take oath to become the Prime Minister of India for historic third time.

He is the first Prime Minister after Jawahar Lal Nehru to take the seat for three consecutive terms.

On the other hand, INDI bloc also held a meeting at Delhi Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge's residence where the key leaders chose to form a strong opposition and not try to form the government.

NDA had won 293 seats in the recently concluded Lok Sabha Elections. Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) emerged out to be the single largest party with victory on 240 seats. 272 seats are required for any party or alliance to form the government.

With strong support from Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu, NDA has surpassed the number and presented its majority before the President Smt Droupadi Murmu, who has called the alliance for oath taking ceremony on Saturday.

According to media reports, Nitish Kumar has asked for Railway Ministry and BJP has agreed for the same. However, an official statement is awaited.
