Pune Porche accident: Teen driver's father arrested

Pune : Pune police arrested the father of a 17-year-old boy who was involved in a fatal car accident by a luxury Porche car in Pune. The accident happened on Sunday morning when a posh car collided with bikers, two of whom died on the spot. The CCTV footage of crash has been captured in which the car can be seen speeding in a busy area.

Pune police’s crime branch is now investigating the matter. The cops have arrested boy’s father under section 75 and 77 of the Juvenile Justice Act. These sections pertain to willful neglect of a child and providing intoxicating substances to a minor, respectively.

Those who died have been identified as Aneesh Awadhiya and Ashwini Koshta, both IT engineer. It has been reported that the both of them were returning from a get-together party at around 2:15 AM on their bike.

It must be noted that the teen driver was intoxicated at the time of accident in Kalyani Nagar Junction. It has been learned that the boy was celebrating his 12th class result and was under the influence of alcohol at the time of accident.

The legal age of consuming alcohol is 25 years in Maharashtra. With this, the place where he consumed alcohol has also been taken into the ambit.

The teenage driver, however, was granted bail by the Juvenile Justice Board. The board asked the 17-year-old to work with the traffic police in Yerawada for 15 days, write an essay on the accident, get medical treatment to quit drinking and undergo psychiatric counselling.
