New Delhi : Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday released a white paper on government's management of coronavirus first and the second wave, with an aim to get India ready for the third wave.

He clearly mentioned that the motive behind the white paper is not to point out mistakes of the government, but to help India in getting ready for the third wave.

Addressing a media live session on Twitter, the Congress leader said, "the whole country knows that a third wave will strike. It’s clear that the management of the first and second wave of COVID was disastrous, and we’ve tried to point out the reasons behind it. I would even go so far as to say that there might be waves even after the third wave of COVID19 as the virus is mutating."

This comes days after an AIIMS doctor claimed that third wave of coronavirus will hit India in next three to six weeks.

Meanwhile, India on Monday registered record vaccination of more than 84 lakh people in a single day.

The large number of vaccination was seen after new vaccine regime came to effect under Central government. 75% of the total vaccine production was purchased by the Centre and distributed free of cost to the states for free vaccinations of all adults in India.

What is a White Paper?

A white paper is an authoritative report or guide that often addresses issues and how to solve them. The term originated when government papers were coded by color to indicate distribution, with white designated for public access.
