Lucknow : Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi and 3 other political leaders have been given permission by the Uttar Pradesh government to visit violence-hit Lakhimpur Kheri district.

‘State government has given permission to Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi and three other people to visit Lakhimpur Kheri,’ says Home Department, UP government.

Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi, Bhupesh Baghel and Charanjit Channi were clicked on board a flight to Lucknow from Delhi. They will be meeting families of the farmers who died in the violence hit Lakhimpur.

Meanwhile, Congress leader Sachin Pilot chose to reach there by road. He landed in Delhi today morning and then left by road to meet the families of the farmers.

Earlier, a UP minister had said that the permission to visit will be given after situation comes under control.

 “Let the situation come under control and last rites of the bodies be performed. When these things will happen, we’ll allow them (political leaders) to go there (Lakhimpur Kheri). We’re trying to do the things as soon as possible,” says Uttar Pradesh Minister Sidharth Nath Singh.
